What is a HydraFacial?
HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that clears out your pores and hydrates your skin. The five-step treatment includes cleansing, exfoliating, extracting, hydrating, protecting the skin with customized serums that are infused into pores with the HydraPeel Tip, a pen-like device. This gentle facial rejuvenation treatment is safe for all skin types and tones.
The serums used during a HydraFacial have anti-aging and antioxidant properties and are tailored to address the specific needs of the client. Its many benefits include a more hydrated, bright, plump, and clear complexion. Plus, it can also improve signs of aging. The treatment reduces fine lines and wrinkles, increases firmness, evens tone, texture, and brown spots, as well as reducing enlarged pores.
What happens during a HydraFacial treatment?
Cleanse & Exfoliate
It starts off much like any other professional facial does, with a deep cleansing of your pores—but it goes much deeper than a topical application. The cleansing process includes a mix of botanical cleansers and hydrating, soothing ingredients. Next is the exfoliation phase, which uses a mix of glycolic and salicylic acids to help shed the dead top layer of skin cells and uncover a more radiant-looking complexion. As with any chemical exfoliating treatment, you may feel a bit of tingling, but because it’s a mild peel, you shouldn’t feel it sting or burn. The aim is to remove the three layers of the epidermis, getting rid of any dead layers, which delivers the serums deeper and enhances the result.
Extract
Then a vacuum-like tip called the vortex-extraction nozzle suctions out blackheads and any remaining impurities from deep within your pores. This vacuum step stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping boost circulation while removing excess fluid and waste. Depending on your level of sensitivity or your desired results, your aesthetician can choose one of six different tips for the device that range from gentle to more aggressive.
Hydrate
Next, your facial infuses a targeted serum—a customized cocktail that includes hydrating ingredients, antioxidants, peptides, and collagen. There are different serums available that can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, energize, and brighten the skin, improve firmness, or target other concerns.
Protect
Before you go, your provider will apply moisturizer and sunscreen.
Tip: Some treatments pair especially well with a HydraFacial, including a Photofacial with LED light therapy to kill any breakout-causing bacteria (blue light) or help reduce fine lines and wrinkles (red light). The HydraFacial is often combined with other treatments like Neurotoxins (Botox) to smooth wrinkles that form because of facial movements, Radiofrequency (RF) to tighten the skin or, Microneedling to boost collagen production, tone, texture and increase firmness.
The HydraFacial has minimal side effects, and essentially no downtime post-treatment. Although, expect a little redness immediately following the treatment, but it will quickly subside.
Following the treatment, you'll want to let your skin rest and soak up all the benefits of the facial for the rest of the day. You can wear makeup the next morning and resume your normal routine.
